It Doesn't Matter
2018
At Miljana Nikolić’s first exhibition, works created over the course of her life in 2017/18 were presented. All of the works can be understood as visual explorations of various abstract thoughts and as attempts to find a form best suited to expressing a thought or an emotion. Paintings and mosaics were created in parallel and appeared, at first glance, unrelated.
How does one obtain answers to insignificant questions? Reflections on the universe, on how to depict—using traditional means—scenes about which we possess very little information, and why should anyone care? How does one saturate the eye with color in order to receive answers to unasked questions? What is it that art is, and again—why should anyone care? Why engage in something that concerns no one, and how can one explain that this, quite simply, is not true?
